Vulnerability to Social Exclusion

DatasetsInclusion and accessibility

What is it?
A dataset showing how vulnerable different communities are to social exclusion. It uses TfN research to measure factors such as poverty, disability, poor health, caring responsibilities and age, with results showing relative levels of risk across areas.

How is it useful?
Use it to understand which places and groups may face greater barriers to opportunities and services. It helps you target transport interventions where they are most needed, support inclusive planning, and prioritise areas with higher levels of vulnerability. Results are relative, helping you compare areas and focus action where it will have the most impact.

Limitations

Vulnerabiltiy is a relative measure of the social, economic, and demongraphic conditions that make social exclusion more likely. Because it is a relative measure, the position of any given area can change due to changes in conditions in other areas, even if conditions in the given area remain the same.
