What is it?
This report uses case studies from Northern Transport Voices to show how people travel in rural areas across the North. It draws on travel diary research to give first‑hand insight into everyday journeys, needs and challenges.
Northern Transport Voices is an online research community bringing together over 500 people from across the North to share their travel experiences, needs and views through surveys and discussions.
How is it useful?
It helps combined authorities and partners understand real travel experiences in rural communities. Use it to design services, improve access and shape policies that better reflect how people travel in practice.

- People often rely on a mix of modes, with a strong dependence on the car
