Passenger Experience of Rail Station Accessibility in the North
Back to Resource HubWhat is it?
This report shares findings from survey research with rail users across the North of England, carried out through Northern Transport Voices — our online research community of northern residents, established in January 2023. It explores passenger experiences of rail station accessibility, with a particular focus on people with health conditions or illnesses. The findings are based on over 2,000 responses covering more than 370 stations.
How is it useful?
The report provides northern combined authorities and local transport authorities with evidence grounded in passenger experience. It helps identify accessibility barriers, understand how these affect travel choices, and inform inclusive station improvements and funding business cases to improve access to rail across the North.
