Bus Open Data Service Extractor

What is it?
BODS‑Extractor is a Python tool that pulls data from the Department for Transport’s Bus Open Data Service. It downloads scheduled bus timetables in GTFS format and live vehicle location data, and combines them to create observed bus schedules.

How is it useful?
It helps transport professionals understand how bus services run in practice, not just how they are planned. Use it to analyse bus networks, compare scheduled and actual services, and support service planning. The tool provides a clear evidence base for local decision‑making and funding business cases, using open, nationally available data.
